Juri Welandowski (Jörgen Welander)
In spite of the slavic name, Juri was born in Sweden and from his earliest childhood showed a fascination for deep tones. For years he experimented day and night with the sounds of bass instruments. With the effect that the local biologists were soon puzzled by the vastly increased numbers of female moose in the forest around his home... Eventually he settled for the Tuba and the electric bass and went on to study these in the context of jazz. He now puts his virtuosity to good use in several musical genres and continues his research on the animalistic effects of tuba-sounds, this time in the Blackforest of Germany and in Bajanski Bal, where he is also the voluminous backbone of the group.
